Community Profile

"whygeeohs" (so named because of how you'd pronounce Y-G-O) is a community for all Yu-Gi-Oh! fans. This is a sort of catchall group for people to connect and discuss anything relating to the franchise.

As always, there are a few guidelines. It's really basic stuff. In general, follow sitewide rules and we'll be golden.

• Don't be a dick. We know that you know how to not be a dick.


• Follow the guide for what tags get used for what.


• Mark spoilers. There's some leniency here since the original run was about twenty years ago but in general, warn for spoilers and put them under a cut.


• Content warnings. These shouldn't need to be used often, if at all. However, there may be some cases where they're necessary. It's preferred to put content warnings at the beginning of a post and then put the content warned for under a cut (to keep titles from being overly long).


• Bashing characters, series, ships, etc. is not allowed. Feel free to share your opinion but there's a large difference between "I dislike this for [x] reasons" and "I hate this, everyone else should hate this, screw you for not hating this". Don't be that guy.

Now, a list of what should go in what tag. Some are self-explanatory but let's go over them anyway. The reasoning behind all this being to keep tags as organized and topic relevant as possible.

hcs	Headcanons and alternate universe, don't use any other tag
dl	Duel Links, separate from games because it's most popular at the moment
gen	General talk, use if talking about multiple series or fandom trends
meta	Meta is self-referential, so analysis and the like

To clear up about not using series tags for certain topics, it's so that series tags aren't cluttered with posts about things that only slightly reference them. For example: you have an OC that's set in 5Ds but you're only talking about that OC and nothing else. Well, even if it's related to 5Ds in a vague way you aren't actually talking about 5Ds, you're talking about your OC. A more succinct classification system might be possible in a community strictly for OCs but since this community attempts to encompass as much as possible it's a bit more difficult to corral things.
